Above: Shirley happy and relaxing, after having swallowed a couple of whales and shipwrecks.

Name: Shirley

Gender: Female
Job: Giantess Lifeguard

Weight: 1790t (Imperial) / 1624t (Metric)
29000t (Imperial) / 26310t (Metric)<- Minimum weight; always expect her heavier
Height: 150' 5" / 45.8m
380' 5" / 116.0m

Visual Appearance
A lady with a plump, voluminous figure.

Has short orange hair. Consistency of hair is not identical to a human's; there are some elements of fur.

A pair of large, fluffy orange dog ears extend from the side of her head. The inner fur of the ears is yellow cream in colour.

Possesses bright orange eyes.

Natural growth of yellow cream fur 'tufts' on her cheeks. Likely to be her facial hair of sorts, as it quickly regrows back to its normal length after being shaved off. A charm point of hers.

Has a long, fluffy tail coated with yellow cream fur, trailing out from her tailbone.

Job Description
- Rescuing drowning people
- Eating shipwrecks
- Eating/fighting sea monsters
- Cleaning beaches
- Partying with beachgoers

Shirley is your everyday dog girl, turned giant!
She is naturally lazy and passive in terms of personality; the only thing that would drive her to get up is food, hunger and helping people in distress.

Because she is a natural swimmer, she has volunteered to work as a lifeguard, watching the beaches and patrolling the waters. Shirley also answers to any distress calls out at sea, if there is no other aid within reach or is too dangerous for rescue personnel to handle.

In exchange, she gets all the shipwrecks, sea monsters and food gifts she can eat. Shirley also tends to dine on the local fauna, with whales being a personal favourite of hers, though it is discouraged by her employers for the sake of environmental conservation.

Nutrition
As a side effect (and a major convenience) of becoming giant, Shirley isn't turned away by any food (or non-food) items, since her tastebuds are also strangely immune to scents and flavours people or giants would normally find 'repulsive'. As such, her palate is as wide as she's willing to get.

Things Shirley eats (not exhaustive, it's just the ones she mostly looks out for)
- Sunken vessels
- Decommissioned vessels
- Beach junk
- Schools of fish
- Whales

Oddly though, the only thing she dislikes is mints.

Stomach
Her stomach is truly a marvel.  It can digest virtually anything that lands inside, converting it into useful nutrition or just more padding on herself.

'Non-food' items such as shipwrecks and debris can take a bit longer, but they will eventually be dissolved without harmful effects to Shirley. No heavy/sharp objects, conventional explosives and/or toxins of any kind have been shown to harm her insides once swallowed.

Below is an overview of how much time it takes for her digestive system to process ingested items.

Timings listed are for optimal conditions within a fully filled stomach (no expansion.)

Fluctuations are expected due to material/shape differences and substances which may encourage or hinder acid/stomach activity.

Sorted in ascending order of difficulty:
Easy (Within 2 hours of ingestion)
- Acid reactive substances (carbonates, alkalis etc)
- Common nutrients (carbohydrates, fats, proteins, sugars etc)
- Flesh
- Leathers
- Bone
- Tough caraspaces

Medium (2-8 hours)
- Plant material
- Most polymers (plastic junk, rubbers)

Hard (8-24 hours)
- Glass
- Steel (used in most vessel hulls)
- Titanium
- Concrete
- Material composites (glass fibre/CNT reinforced polymers etc)

Difficult (>24 hours, possibly never)
- Naturally occurring rocks
- Noble metals (gold, platinum etc)
- Precious stones (diamonds, rubies etc)

Take note that while some materials are difficult for Shirley to absorb, this does not exempt them from the crushing and grinding forces that occur with the mixing and churning within her stomach.

Thus, it might be helpful for her to swallow objects within the 'Difficult' category, in order to ease physical breakdown of stomach contents.

In rare cases, parasites are able to resist and escape digestion, making her stomach their habitat. A common solution is to have Shirley swallow timed explosives or depth charges, in order to destroy or render said parasites vulnerable for the acid to finish them off. Expensive combat drones may also be deployed, and are used when parasites have shored themselves up in inaccessible locations, or for more recalcitrant cases.

Her stomach can swell comfortably up to five times its original size, allowing her to swallow and contain a sizable amount of things.

Eating with one's belly button
She is also capable of navel vore, although this ability is not canon to her. Her belly button serves as a second mouth that leads directly to her stomach, with foodstuffs passing through via a (rather sensual) duct. After coaxing her belly, her navel begins to operate like a vacuum, easily sucking up liquids and smaller objects, although larger objects will obstruct the flow for a while until it passes through, or it gives up.

As a rule of thumb Shirley can only navel vore objects smaller than or slightly larger than the diameter of her navel, which makes oral swallowing still the to-go method for her to devour prey. However if she experiences extreme weight gain her own navel can very well exceed the swallowing capacity of her own throat and mouth!

Body
Shirley is gluttonous, and will eat about anything that's placed in front of her, especially more so if she's hungry. Keep food away from her prying eyes and sharp nose unless you intend on feeding her!
After tasting something she often swallows it whole if she can.

She normally has a chubby frame, her belly being the most prominent feature of the lot. Her big body plays a great part in her serviceability, as the bigger she gets the more people she can transport to safety on top of her, even to the point where she can put entire ships on top of her. The added weight does make her a tad slower in swimming and turning around, so she has to find a balance between growth and mobility.

When operating in colder waters she is expected to fill out to around five to six thousand tons in times her original weight, as this ensures optimal insulation. This makes her about as wide as she is tall, additionally she can wear a drysuit to avoid this if it is available. But Shirley of course prefers herself to be larger.

Uniform
Shirley wears a red and white one-piece swimsuit, with a white cross printed on the chest area between her breasts. It is comfortable and conforms well to her body, as well as covering any bits more conservative people might find offensive.

A hole is made at the butt area to allow for her tail to swing freely.

It also provides slight protection against impacts and scratches, in addition to being easily visible in both day and night.

She keeps spare suits in storage in the event of accidental tears, damage and her fluctuating weights.

She also wears another vest around her body for utility purposes; she removes it when off-duty, or when planning to dive, during which it floats on the surface of the water for easy retrieval.

The vest consists of a white frame with accessories attached. On top of the vest is a large back float (blue in colour), as well as two front smaller floats (orange). The smaller floats each have a yellow blinker on them, and can be inflated with the tube attached to them (the tube has an attachment that doubles as a whistle.)

The smaller floats rest on her shoulders.

Attached to the two smaller floats is a net that flanks her sides as well as covering her back, tied to a metal ring which is located near her crotch when it is worn. The net is suspended and secured at multiple points: the smaller floats, the metal ring and wound up on the back float. An extra length of net wraps around the back float, in case Shirley needs more breathing room for her continuously growing girth.

In essence the vest is designed as a flotation aid for her, and loosely wraps around her body unless she puts on a lot of weight. The netting assists more able survivors to be able to climb on top of her, and is also useful for hanging tools for later use.

For all its utility the vest is still rather makeshift in nature. Future improvements are to be expected.

At times when she has larger weights (>5000t)(>150000t), useful tools and consumables such as inflatable lifeboats may be loaded onto her expanse of flab to expedite major rescue operations. There are also plans to install facilities normally found on larger ships on her, such as helicopter pads and even buildings, but it will be a while before the engineers figure out how to build such things on her soft body.

Shirley wears a pair of diving goggles meant for her size, which are useful for viewing underwater. It comes with lights attached to the sides useful for providing illumination in dark areas.

Care
While Shirley is physically rather strong due to her species and scale, exercise as a whole should not be neglected for her, especially if going for long periods of inactivity or she shows a massive increase in her eating and gaining habits. The rule of thumb is, for every ton Shirley puts on there must be adequate exercise to maintain her physique and make sure she is able to carry herself in addition to the people and vessels she is to save.

Arguably getting her to voluntarily exercise is the hardest part of her care, since she prefers to nap rather than work out. Luring her with a helicopter or speedboat of treats, along with promises of new swimsuits and toys seem to help, though.

A reasonable amount of time is given to her to dry off after being in the water for a while. For extended periods of operations out at sea, marine flora tends to cover her skin, fur and clothing. While it is not life-threatening, she does complain of discomfort until it is scrubbed off by the cleanup staff.

Despite Shirley being a giantess, large amounts of alcoholic beverages are able to impact her logical thinking and cognitive abilities. Beachgoers are thus advised to avoid offering her alcohol either as a gift or during the many parties with her, no matter how much she begs or threatens. The thought of a dancing, drunken Shirley is not well worth her bouncy playground of a body, and might also result in temporary beach closure owing to her titanic footfalls ruining the landscape.

Recreation
It is fortunate that Shirley is friendly and easy going towards people.

Despite her huge and imposing appearance, visitors have reported a safer and fun experience within the first hour of interaction onwards.

As long as she is not on duty, Shirley seems quite happy to adhere to the multitude of requests by beach visitors, such as posing for pictures, lying down still and letting her body act as a soft playground, filling her navel with water and having it serve as a pool, having a feast in front of them, just to name a few.

Kept well fed, Shirley has no reason to consume people, but we're pretty sure that some of the visitors with wilder tastes have asked to be handled roughly and 'eaten'. Such activities are to be done at your own risk; management is not responsible for any loss of life or limb that result.

Requests for 'fun' activities may be forwarded to us for our consideration, but there are no guarantees it will be implemented.

Department Head Report #61

It seems our concept for getting giants interested in community service has paid dividends. Our latest recruit, Shirley, has exceeded our expectations, with little overhead. She has already been responsible for a 96% increase of the survival rate of water disaster survivors in the district, with a 100% rescue record. Something that our Lifeboat and Coast Guard services have not matched. We have started to send her out to colder waters, and her training and diet have allowed her to handle colder climates nicely. We eventually will be able to add a portable helicopter pad, but we're still trying to engineer the proper harness and platform for her. We also will need to use as light a helicopter as we can for this experiment.

I do recommend if you get giants who aren't as able to match her program of diet, that we should look into getting the local blimp factory to starting to make anti-exposure suits and inflatable personal flotation devices for future recruits. The flotation device we gave Shirley while innovative could still be improved upon. I'm already drawing up dress uniform ideas as well. Aiming for a more naval look with this.

I will get back to you, it seems Shirley is tangling with a Sea Monster in the Bering. I'm sending this e-mail from a observation helicopter. It's a site to see.... Well everything but the eating of a said monster... that's better left to the imagination.

Scaled up Shirley by a significant margin so that it would make more sense. Previously she might have had difficulty even trying to swallow a whale. Whoops! Thanks to :iconmawleficent:Mawleficent for his experience with giants.
Added more information on the capabilities of her stomach due to Foxtopus'(Facebook friend) questioning.
Added information on 'parasites' thanks to :iconnameless-phantom:nameless-phantom.

Finally added a section for her navel vore ability, after much deliberation. I've grown comfortable to seeing her use it! It still remains non-canon, though!

Jyles-Jin From everything that I'm reading about her, she seems to be an effective (if somewhat unusual) lifeguard. Though... now, I have to wonder if there were any casualties that happened at any time that people boarded her during trips or cruises?
